Portugal thrashes France in the second round of the European Championship

The Portuguese women's roller hockey team beat France 7-2 this Tuesday, in the second round of Group A of the 17th edition of the European Championship, which is taking place in Paredes.

At the Rota dos Móveis pavilion, Portugal, which on Monday beat Italy 5-3, went into half-time leading 6-1, with goals from Raquel Silva (8th and 12th minutes), Beatriz Várzeas (13th), Maria Sofia Silva (17th and 18th) and Leonor Coelho (20th), with France scoring through Ninon Dubocquet (24th).

In the second half, Axelle Husson scored the second goal (34) for the French team, which suffered its second defeat, after being thrashed by Spain (8-0) on Monday, and Leonor Coelho sealed the result in the 42nd minute.

Portugal remains second in the group, tied on six points with Spain, who defeated Italy 5-0 on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the two Iberian teams face each other in the final game of the group, which will decide the top-placed team.
