DJ Piá offers free Hip Hop and DJing workshop in Porto Alegre

One of the pioneers of hip hop in Rio Grande do Sul, rapper, music and cultural producer DJ Piá, begins this Wednesday (13) a cycle of five meetings focused on the history of the movement and the practice of DJing. The activity is free, but places are almost sold out.
Classes will be held every Wednesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., at the Ventre Livre Cultural and Health Center in Porto Alegre's Historic Center (Rua Fernando Machado, 464). The closing ceremony will be on Friday, September 19th, with a party hosted by the participants themselves. The minimum age to enroll is 16.
The course covers everything from basic DJing concepts—such as equipment setup, mixing techniques, scratching, musical collages, BPM, and repertoire organization—to music theory and DJ software. The repertoire will explore different genres, including rap, original funk, rock, trap, funk carioca, pop, and Brazilian music.
In addition to the technical aspects, the meetings will provide a historical overview of hip hop, highlighting its influence on music, art, and the cultural diversity of Rio Grande do Sul.
The initiative is part of the project "Ponto de Cultura e Saúde Ventre Livre - A year of programming in the Arvoredo Commune (and more)" , supported by Sedac Notice No. 25/2024 of the Aldir Blanc National Policy (PNAB) - RS. Registration is online and free, but limited.
