Fornos is the first Municipal Capital of Culture of Santa Maria da Feira

The parish of Fornos turned a “potential weakness” – the lack of associations – into a “strength”, bringing together local talents and desires to achieve the status of the first Municipal Capital of Culture in the Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira. After signing, with César Resende, president of the parish council, the agreement through which the council supports the initiative, with 50,000 euros, communication and some logistics, Amadeu Albergaria welcomed «the birth of a new cultural brand» in the Feira region. The head of the municipal executive stressed that the Municipal Capital of Culture reinforces the local government's strong commitment to the "decentralization" of cultural enjoyment and creation. He stressed that Fornos "has a lot of people involved" in the sector and that, with this mega event, it will be possible to multiply capacities and awaken new talents.
Called “Art'In Fornos”, the “participatory and inclusive project” is based on local identity and aims to “create a collaborative cultural ecosystem, accessible to all citizens”.
