Museum Night 2025 promises record attendance with 28 cultural spaces in Porto Alegre

Museum Night 2025 promises record attendance with 28 cultural spaces in Porto Alegre

One of the most anticipated cultural events for the people of Rio Grande do Sul, the Noite dos Museus will hold its ninth edition on November 29. The initiative, which has been breaking records in terms of public attendance, having attracted more than 208 thousand people in 2024, will feature an even greater number of institutions on the visiting circuit this year, with 28 cultural spaces open from 6 pm to midnight.

As in previous editions, visitors will be able to visit the collections and exhibitions of the venues that are part of the program for free, as well as watch dozens of shows, performances and artistic performances spread across various parts of the city. As it did last year, the event will invite the people of Rio Grande do Sul to not only connect with the capital's museums and cultural institutions, but also with places that were severely impacted by the floods, such as Praça da Alfândega and Rua dos Andradas, located in the Historic Center, as well as several other regions, such as the Fourth District.

"Although it has been a year since the flood, the recovery of cultural activities and local producers, spaces and artists is still slow. And, with everything that has happened, it is even more important to turn our attention to cultural institutions and value public heritage. In this edition, our goal is to rebuild ties and memories with our city", highlights Rodrigo Nascimento, creator of the event and president of the Noite dos Museus Institute.

The following will once again be taking part in the event this year: the UFRGS Cultural Center, the Santa Casa Historical-Cultural Center, the Porto Alegre Commerce Club, the Espaço Força e Luz, the Ecarta Foundation, the DMAE Art Gallery, the Goethe-Institut Porto Alegre, the Caldeira Institute, the PUCRS Institute of Culture, the Memorial of the Judiciary of Rio Grande do Sul, the Memorial of the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul, the Porto Alegre Public Market, the Museum of the Military Brigade of Rio Grande do Sul, the Museum of Hip Hop Culture RS, the UFRGS Museum, the UFCSPA Anatomy Museum - MAUPoA, the Paço Art Museum - MAPA, the Military Museum of the Southern Military Command, the Joaquim Felizardo Museum of Porto Alegre, the Piratini Palace, the Ruben Berta Art Gallery and the UFRGS Planetarium.

Among the new features are six institutions: the Public Archives of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, the Commercial Association of Porto Alegre - ACPA, the Leonardo da Vinci School - Alfa, the Memorial of the Electoral Justice Minister Teori Albino Zavascki, the Memorial of the Court of Auditors of the State of Rio Grande do Sul and the State Museum of Creativity Workshop of the São Pedro Psychiatric Hospital.

As has been the case every year, the event will feature a special artistic program for each participating venue, bringing together performances inside and outside the venues, with attractions that reflect the identity of the institutions and the exhibitions on display. The full program will be announced in the coming months.

The Night of Museums 2025 is financed by the Federal Law of Incentive to Culture, planned and produced by Rompecabezas, and carried out by the Night of Museums Institute and the Ministry of Culture, Federal Government - Union and Reconstruction.
