S. Simão de Mamarrosa Folklore Ranch holds the Traditional Desfolhada today

S. Simão de Mamarrosa Folklore Ranch holds the Traditional Desfolhada today
The event, which will take place next to the church, aims to preserve and share with the community one of the region's greatest agricultural traditions, bringing together music, theater, dance and socializing.

Tonight, from 8:30 pm, the churchyard of the Mamarrosa Church will be transformed into a real threshing floor to host another edition of the Traditional Desfolhada organized by the Rancho Folclórico S. Simão de Mamarrosa. This event, which has already become a "cultural and identity landmark of the parish" in the municipality of Oliveira do Bairro, aims to "preserve and share with the community one of the region's greatest agricultural traditions, bringing together music, theater, dance and socializing in a single space." The evening will also feature two groups from Alentejo, who promise to bring "all the charm and authenticity of their region": the Cravos e Rosas do Alentejo Folk Group, from Orada, and the Os Camponeses Folk Group from Arraiolos.

In addition to the staging of the corn husking process, in which the public can participate, there will be space to thresh the corn and search for the ever-awaited king corn, a tradition that brings joy to the youngest.
