Sociedade Recreativa Musical Luzense celebrates 100 years of culture and community

The Luzense Musical Recreational Society celebrates a remarkable achievement this year: its 100th anniversary. Founded on May 13, 1925, the community of the parish of Luz de Tavira has been, for a century, a true symbol of local identity, where music and associations intersect with the memory and soul of the community.

“Celebrating 100 years of existence is celebrating all those who, with dedication and love for the land, kept this institution alive”, points out the collective.

In honor of this journey, Sociedade Recreativa Musical Luzense prepared a set of initiatives over the last month, with emphasis on:

– Sport Fishing Competition, on April 13th at Praia do Barril, organized by the Society’s Sport Fishing Section; – Centenary Commemorative Concert, with the participation of Banda Brasa Doirada on April 30th; – Show «Melodias de Sempre», with the participation of the Cultural and Recreational Association of Luz de Tavira and the dance corps of the Tavira Music Academy, on April 9th; – Mass in Memory of Deceased Members, on May 13th at 9:30 am at the Church of Luz de Tavira; – 100th Anniversary Ball with the Tons de Baile Group, restricted to members, on May 17th, at 9:30 pm with the presence of official entities; – Show “Dance Meeting”, with the participation of the Ballroom Dance Group of the Sociedade Recreativa Musical Luzense and invited Dance Schools, on May 23rd, at 9:30 pm. For members and non-members and free entry; – Centenary Celebration Lunch, restricted to members, at the Vale D'El Rei Restaurant, in Pedras d'el Rei, on May 25th;

– White Night with Nelson Santos, May 31st, at 9:30 pm for members and non-members.
