The Gajo and Ricardo Silva perform at the Cineteatro Messias

The Gajo and Ricardo Silva perform at the Cineteatro Messias
Two “unique musical journeys” are scheduled for tomorrow and Saturday, with the poetry of Ricardo Silva’s Portuguese guitar and the renewed strength of O Gajo’s viola campaniça.

Portuguese music will fill the Cineteatro Messias in Mealhada with life this weekend, with two performances of great artistic intensity. Tomorrow, Ricardo Silva will bring the magic of the Portuguese guitar in a memorable concert, and on Saturday, it's the turn of O Gajo, João Morais' alter ego, to take the stage to present the renewed power of his fifth album, "Trovoada." Two consecutive days where tradition, innovation, and emotion converge in the same venue.

Tomorrow, Ricardo Silva will present his album "Contagem Crescente" in a special performance featuring the Luso Philharmonic Association. "Throughout the concert, the guitarist will also revisit previous works and pay tribute to great composers who have shaped the history of the Portuguese guitar, on a musical journey where tradition and innovation intersect," the municipality emphasizes in a statement.

On Saturday, O Gajo takes the stage, presenting his latest work, "Trovoada." This fifth album marks a new stage in the musician's career, who, while maintaining the viola campaniça as his central instrument, opens space for words and new sonic fusions with accordions, adufe, bagpipes, and even the Galician tambourine. This is a "bold proposal that has won over audiences and critics alike, and which recently earned him the INATEL Foundation award at the 2024 Iberian Festival Awards for innovation in popular music."

Tickets for both concerts are now available on Tickeline and at the Cineteatro Messias ticket office (by email teatromessias@cm-mealha da.pt or by phone 231 209 870 - call to the national landline network).
