A metalworker at a defense plant was accused of committing a terrorist attack and vandalism and subsequently arrested in Moscow. The relevant information is contained in court documents obtained by RIA Novosti.
According to the case materials, a criminal case has been opened against the man under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) and Part 1 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism).
It was previously reported that two men accused of spraying a chemical substance over the fence of the FSB border department in Magadan damaged the paint on a car down to the metal.
Details of the criminal case are not disclosed.
The defendant's pretrial detention was previously extended. His lawyers petitioned for a more lenient measure of restraint, arguing that their client lacked the intent to commit the acts he was accused of.
The investigation, in turn, believes that, while at liberty, the accused could hide from the preliminary investigation authorities and continue to engage in criminal activity.
