Why Zendaya Sent Flowers to Anna Sawai After They Wore Similar Looks at the 2025 Met Gala

Zendaya and Anna Sawai made news when they both wore white suits and hats to the 2025 Met Gala last week. (Zendaya’s was by Louis Vuitton, while Sawai’s was custom Christian Dior.) Zendaya’s longtime stylist and creative director, Law Roach, spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the Euphoria star’s reaction to her and Sawai’s twinning moment on the red carpet.

“I think people thought there was some kind of disappointment on our end,” Roach said. “You know, [Sawai’s] stylist Karla Welch and I are very friendly. We’ve known each other for years, and Karla and I talked. Zendaya sent Anna flowers because it was her first Met. But yeah, it wasn’t any disappointment. It was two people paying homage to two different people: Yoko [Ono] being Anna’s inspiration and Diana [Ross] and Bianca [Jagger] being ours. It just happened. And they both looked great, and they’re both beautiful women. I mean, I hate the way that people try to pin women or stylists [against each other]. It was just all great. They both looked great.”

Sawai offered her own praise of Zendaya’s look on Instagram, where she posted behind-the-scenes photos of her Dior outfit. “Late but FIRST MET GALA🤍🤍🤍 Thank you @dior for the perfect custom suit!” Sawai wrote. She added after sharing full credits, “I know a lot of people have a lot to say, and trust me, I admire her too🤣🤍 But most importantly, I’m so happy with my look, so please be happy for me too xx.”
