7 historical artifacts returned to Türkiye in Bodrum Castle

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy presented seven historical artifacts from the Early Bronze Age and Roman periods, returned to Türkiye by Swiss authorities on June 2nd, at Bodrum Castle. Minister Ersoy reminded the public that a cooperation protocol regarding cultural property smuggling was signed with Switzerland in 2022, emphasizing that this agreement has borne fruit. Ersoy stated that the returned artifacts would be exhibited at Bodrum Castle, adding, "Our Anti-Smuggling Department continues its efforts with great dedication to tracking artifacts removed without permission from Anatolia worldwide. Similar efforts will also lead to the return of larger artifacts to the country." Among the artifacts returned to Türkiye are gilded male and female votive statuettes and a rare gold earring produced using the granulation technique.
