A night befitting August 30th at the 94th Izmir International Fair

A night befitting August 30th at the 94th Izmir International Fair

The enthusiasm of August 30th Victory Day celebrations in Izmir continued at the 94th IEF. After celebrating the holiday to their hearts' content throughout the day in various locations around the city, Izmir residents gathered in the evening for the Grass Concerts at Kültürpark. Ali Altay was the first to take the stage at the August 30th Victory Day concert.

At the concert, Mayor Tugay and the people of İzmir waved Turkish flags as Ali Altay sang. At Altay's request, the people of İzmir turned on their cell phone lights, transforming the concert area into a light show. Altay explained that footage was captured at the concert and that the footage would be used in the music video for a song composed specifically for the 103rd anniversary of İzmir's liberation on September 9th. Altay said, "You'll see this in a music video on September 9th; you're making a wonderful day. We've created a bombshell piece for September 9th; I'm singing the chorus. 'Light up the lights, let the sky light up. Raise the flags, let the stars and the crescent wave.'"

"WHAT KIND OF CROWD IS THIS?"

Following Ali Altay, beloved Turkish pop singer Edis took the stage. Thousands of Izmir residents filled the fairgrounds, bringing the August 30th celebrations to a peak. Edis, who grew up in Izmir, celebrated the holiday with the people, saying, "I'm so glad you're here. I'm so happy. What kind of crowd is this? We want to celebrate August 30th Victory Day, as it deserves its name, as a victory. We were delighted to begin concerts in Izmir after our album's release. Thank you so much for not leaving us alone."
