How to Watch Dying for Sex, Your Next Weekend Binge

FX’s new limited series Dying for Sex tells the true story of Molly Kochan, a woman who receives a terminal cancer diagnosis and decides to leave her marriage to pursue a deeper connection with herself through sex and intimacy, with the unwavering support of her best friend.
Adapted from the Wondery podcast of the same name, the show stars Michelle Williams as Molly and Jenny Slate as Nikki, her closest friend through all of the doctor visits and unexpected moments of joy. The series doesn’t shy away from the realities of illness, but it also centers self-discovery, pleasure, and the kind of friendship that holds steady until the very end.
Williams, who returned to the screen after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus to take on this role, told The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert that she knew this story had her name on it the moment she finished reading the script. “It was a happy accident—but it was an accident,” she said. “This woman’s brave path, her choice, her journey… this is how she lived it, and this is how we portray it.”
The story is laced with humor, but make no mistake: it cuts deep. And at the heart of the series is not just a sexual awakening, but a love story—between two best friends navigating death not as an ending, but as an invitation to live fully, wildly, and without shame.
As Williams puts it, “Ultimately what I think the show is really about is: Can you experience pleasure without shame? Can we separate the two, finally?” With Dying for Sex, the answer might just be yes.
