One of the first to show his condolences and speak about her legacy was the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, who spoke out through his X account (formerly Twitter) and stated that “she was always a visionary woman who dedicated her life to serving Bogotá and Colombia.
“I deeply regret the death of Patricia Castaño, a visionary woman who dedicated her life to serving Bogotá and Colombia through culture. Through public television, Patricia always promoted education and taught us about the transformative power of the media to tell stories and achieve change in our society. To her family and friends, my heartfelt condolences,” the mayor wrote.
Jaime Abello Banfi also wanted to remember her, saying: “We will always remember Patricia Castaño, whom I loved and admired. A cultural leader, promoter of communication for social change and public libraries, producer with Adelaida Trujillo of documentaries that circulated worldwide, and a good friend of GGM and @FundacionGabo,” he said.

Castaño always worked behind the camera, but he led projects of great importance to the development of Colombian film and television. He directed documentaries and programs such as "Jungla de Asfalto," "Viva Bogotá Viva," and "La Franja Metro" on "Canal Capital."
The main objective of these programs was to offer educational and cultural content, as well as to develop critical audiences among children and young people, while also providing fun and entertainment.
This Bogotá native, from a very young age and throughout her life, showed a keen interest in social issues, devoting much of her time to what she loved most. Despite having had the opportunity to live abroad several times and learn new things, she always decided to return home.
“I feel very much like a Bogotá native. I've lived abroad several times, but I never felt I had to leave. I think I've always been connected to my roots, to who I am, and I've loved being abroad, but I always decided to return,” she commented in an interview with 'El Espectador'.

Patricia took the stage accompanied by her grandson to receive this recognition from the mayor. "I accept this recognition not only on my own behalf, but on behalf of all the people with whom I have shared my journey. My achievements are the result of teamwork. In a nutshell, my life may seem like a series of events arranged like tin soldiers; in reality, it has been a journey with many ups and downs and more than a few setbacks from which I have tried to overcome with grace and grace. From this journey, I have many gray hairs, many travels, many friends... I hope you don't lose the ability to dream, to imagine, and, above all, to believe; that philosophy has allowed me to face the challenges life has thrown at me with optimism," she stated.
