Jul 1, 2025
The voice of Ukraine is coming. The concert of the male choir “Dudaryk” of Lviv will be held in San Barnaba, this evening at 8 pm: 32 boys and 20 adults directed by maestro Dmytro Katsal will tell five centuries of Ukrainian sacred music. "The choir - explained Halyna Strozhjnska, president of the Italian-Ukrainian cultural association Nadiya, which promoted the event - was founded in 1971 by the Ukrainian Society of Music and Choir. Today it brings together singers ranging from 4 to 50 years old and has a very wide repertoire, which naturally includes Ukrainian composers such as Mykola Dyletsky and Artem Vedel, but also Christmas and liturgical songs". A bridge between Brescia and the country at war after the Russian invasion, but also an opportunity for intercultural dialogue and a message of peace, to be built step by step also through culture, as recalled by the councilor of the municipality of Brescia Marco Fenaroli and the spokesperson of the Peace Consultation, Valentina Costa. The a cappella repertoire includes concerts by Ukrainian composers Dyletsky, Bortnyansky, Vedel and Berezovsky, but also Christmas carols, schedrivka liturgical songs and spiritual hymns. Admission is free.
