Is the director an alien? Yorgos Lanthimos's new work at the Pioneer.

Following the success of "Poor Creatures," which won the Golden Lion and four Oscars, Yorgos Lanthimos returns with the film "Bugonia," one of the most interesting premieres of this fall.

In Szczecin we will watch it at the "Pionier" cinema – on Saturday at 5 p.m., on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
"Bugonia" is a dark comedy about the intersection of conspiracy theorists and corporate elites, in which a kidnapping escalates into a claustrophobic battle for the future of the planet. The title refers to the ancient ritual of rebirthing bees from a dead bull. Jesse Plemons plays Teddy, a beekeeper obsessed with conspiracy theories who, along with his cousin (Aidan Delbis), kidnap Michelle, a cold-blooded executive from a major pharmaceutical company, played by Emma Stone. He is convinced she is an alien from another world.
"Bugonia" is a bold satire of modernity, full of dark humor and unease. Lanthimos once again proves his ability to combine the grotesque with profound reflection, and Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons create a duo that is hard to forget.
Daria Sienkiewicz wrote on Filmweb: "Lanthimos still knows how to utilize the potential of his actors. No matter how many times we see Jesse Plemons in his role as an executioner, a sleepwalker, or a violent man, it always turns out to be a role perfectly tailored to him. Emma Stone, on the other hand, just when it seemed she'd shown us everything, in a wild gesture of acting bravado shaves her head and literally goes completely out of herself, presenting on screen a wild extravagance worthy of Bella Baxter herself. The professional loyalty of these two, their willingness to constantly transform and participate in each of the Greek's subsequent, increasingly wild projects, only proves that Lánthimos is one of the few mainstream auteurs who hasn't lost his original style and charisma to the detriment of Hollywood ambitions. Wherever he goes, his cast will always follow him."
