Julian McMahon - Australian actor known for his roles in the series "Spotless", "Charmed", "FBI: Most Wanted" and the films "Fantastic Four" - is dead. The star died in Florida at the age of 56. His wife posted a touching farewell online.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, passed away peacefully this week after a courageous battle with cancer," Kelly Paniagua told Deadline in a statement.

"Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends . He loved his job and he loved his fans. His deepest desire was to bring joy to as many lives as possible," the actor's wife added.

"We ask for your support during this time so our family can grieve in privacy. And we wish all those to whom Julian brought joy may they continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for all the memories, " Paniagua concluded.

Julian McMahon is dead. The Australian actor's most famous roles

Julian McMahon was born on July 27, 1968 in Sydney. He began his career as a model, but quickly moved into acting - first in Australian series such as "The Power, the Passion" (1989) and "Home and Away" (1990-1991).

In 1992, he made his film debut in the Australian-American production Wet and Wild Summer! opposite Elliott Gould and quickly moved into American television, appearing in such shows as Another World, Profiler and Will & Grace.

He gained wider recognition as Cole Turner on the hit series Charmed , appearing on the show from 2000 to 2003 and returning briefly in 2005. He later appeared in Nip/Tuck , the FX medical drama created by Ryan Murphy, playing arrogant plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Troy. The seven-year on-screen career earned McMahon a Golden Globe nomination .

Becoming known for playing charming villains, McMahon portrayed Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four films. He also voiced the character in a video game.
