From 'corrupt' to 'jerk': Bruce Springsteen and Trump's exchange of attacks

US President Donald Trump on Friday insulted Bruce Springsteen , calling the artist a "nasty prick" with a wrinkled face like a "raisin" and "dumb as a rock" after the legendary musician criticized him.
At the start of his new “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour in Europe, the veteran rocker said the United States is governed by a “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration”.
Trump responded to him on his Truth Social platform. Springsteen “is overrated,” the Republican mogul said.
“I never liked him, I never liked his music or his radical left politics, and most importantly, he is not a talented guy. Just a smug, hateful jerk,” the 78-year-old president wrote.
Trump called the 75-year-old guitarist “dumb as a rock.” “This raisin-dry rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) should KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the country; that’s ‘normal.’ Then we’ll see how he does!” he wrote.
Springsteen has been a vocal critic of Trump and campaigned for the reelection of former Democratic President Joe Biden, who ultimately dropped out last year and endorsed his then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
The musician, who has sold over 150 million records , is a friend of former Democratic President Barack Obama and sang at a Kamala Harris rally days before she lost last November's election to Trump.
“My home, the America that I love, the America that I wrote about and that has been a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years” is in danger, Springsteen told fans at a concert in the British city of Manchester.
Trump also attacked pop singer Taylor Swift, who endorsed Kamala Harris in the last election. “Has anyone noticed that since saying ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT’ she is no longer ‘HOT’?” he wrote in another post, without context.
The Republican appears to be referring to a message from September last year. “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” he wrote on his social media.
The 35-year-old singer is the richest artist in the music industry worldwide, with a personal fortune estimated at 1.6 billion dollars (9.1 billion reais), in addition to having won 14 Grammy Awards and 30 MTV Video Music Awards.
