Her Royal Highness Princess Akiko Mikasa, a member of the Japanese Imperial Family, has arrived in Istanbul. She was welcomed at the airport by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı. During her visit to Istanbul, Princess Mikasa made several cultural contacts. As part of her Turkey itinerary, Princess Mikasa also visited the Yıldız Palace Japan Department and attended an exhibition displaying carpentry tools gifted to Sultan Abdulhamid by Emperor Meiji.

Following the visit, Princess Mikasa attended the opening of the exhibition "100th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Türkiye: Japanese Ceramics from the Collection of the Idemitsu Art Museum" held at the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts.

'TURKEY IS VERY SPECIAL TO US' Her Highness Princess Akiko Mikasa of Japan gave a conference titled "The Strong Bond Between Three Generations in the Prince Mikasa Family: Friendship with Turkey" at the İş Towers during her visit to Turkey. Princess Mikasa said, "Turkey is very special to us. The bond that my grandfather, my father, and I have carried for three generations is not just a family story; it is a humanitarian, cultural, and scientific bridge between Japan and Turkey." İş Bankası Chairman of the Board of Directors Adnan Bali, who hosted Princess Akiko, who supports projects and institutions including the Kaman Kalehöyük Archaeological Museum in Kırşehir and the Japan Anatolian Archaeological Institute, expressed his pleasure in contributing to the transmission of solidarity and friendship between the two countries from generation to generation.
