Doechii’s Complete Dating History
This past year, Doechii’s career as a rapper and songwriter has taken off into the stratosphere, with a stunning performance at the Grammys, accompanied by an award for Best Rap Album, her entry on the Billboard Hot 100, and a TikTok trend to her track “Anxiety” that reunited Will Smith and Tatyana Ali.
At the Grammys, Doechii gave a moving acceptance speech about the honor of winning in a category only two other women have been awarded since its inception.
“This category was introduced in 1989, and two women have won. Lauryn Hill—three women have won. Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii,” said the star. “I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape. I bared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it can get. I have to thank God.”
With her star on the rise, fans are more and more curious about Doechii’s romantic life. While Doechii is open and vulnerable with her music, she has kept many specific details of her personal life private, protecting the identities of her partners. However, she has shared a bit about her sexuality and experiences dating.
Here’s everything we do know about Doechii’s love life.
Does Doechii have a girlfriend?Yes. Doechii has never revealed who her girlfriend is, but in October 2024, in an interview with Gay Times, she shared, “I think I’ve always been gay. I always knew I was gay. I’m currently bisexual. I am with a woman now, and I have always known that I loved women. I’ve been very, very aware from an early age.”
She added that growing up in Florida, she did not feel safe revealing her interest in women.
“There’s a lot of racism and homophobia so it’s hard, it’s very, very hard,” Doechii explained. “Even though I was aware, I didn’t feel as comfortable until I started surrounding myself with more gay friends. I also grew up in the church, which is not to say that every religion denounces being gay, but it wasn’t accepted in the religion that I was in, in my environment.”
Doechii went on to attend a performing arts school, where she met more queer people and was able to explore her own identity, but it took a while. The rapper explained that she “definitely didn’t feel like I could have pride.”
“I wouldn’t talk about it, but if somebody asked me I wasn’t going to lie,” she said. “So it wasn’t a secret, but I definitely couldn’t walk around as proud as I wanted to and that was upsetting.”
In a December 2024 interview with The Breakfast Club, Doechii was asked if she had a girlfriend and replied, “Yeah, it’s wonderful.”
She was then asked, “Does she trust you?”
“Oh my god, damn! Yeah, I would hope so!” the star replied, laughing. “Yes, she does.”
In some of her music, Doechii references other relationships, including ones with men. In that same interview with The Breakfast Club, Doechii talked about her song “Denial Is a River,” which is a reference to a quote from Wendy Williams about someone denying their husband is gay. The song refers to a past relationship where her ex-boyfriend cheated on her with another man.
In the conversation, host Charlemagne the God seemed to be grappling with the concept that Doechii didn’t have a problem with an ex-boyfriend being bisexual; she had a problem with him lying to her and cheating.
“I mean, that [his sexuality] was never the problem. I think the problem was that you cheated on me. You also coulda let me know up front, you know, what your style was. I’m bisexual. That’s cool. I’ve dated bisexual men, no problem,” she said. “Let me know what it is upfront. I’ll accept you for who you are. It doesn’t really matter.”
Co-host DJ Envy asked for more clarification, and Doechii responded, “How can I be bisexual and then I’m gonna date somebody else who’s bisexual? Why, because it’s a man? Who cares?”
Both hosts insisted that bisexuality in men is different than in women, to which she replied, “I think that sexuality is fluid, and I really don’t give a damn.”
