This time, the decision was made to separate the male roles in the Bill Condon-directed film into two acting categories. Variety reports that Tonatiuh , who plays Molina, will compete for the Oscar in Leading Role, while Diego Luna will compete for Supporting Actor. In the film, he plays political prisoner Valentino.

However, it's possible that costume designer Colleen Atwood will be the strongest Oscar contender for her work on "Kiss of the Spider-Woman." It would be her fifth Oscar win.
