Manouche Jazz Festival in Almada with Mozes Rosenberg and Favino Lorier

The Cine Incrível room is the setting for all the concerts, with the opening of the event being the trio of guitarist Mozes Rosenberg, who participated last year in festivals such as the Jazz Marathon, in Hong Kong, and Sicilia Jazz, in Italy.

The Mozes Rosenberg Trio, originally from the Netherlands, plays next Friday at 9:30 pm.

The following day, at the same time, the French violinist and guitarist Favino Lorier performs, originally from the Manouche gypsy community of Alsace-Lorraine, the same ethnic group as the guitarist Django Reinhardt (1910-1953) who inaugurated this jazz style, whose formal aesthetic is 'swing', with an appropriation of the gypsy musical tradition.

Favino Lorier "represents the new generation of musicians inspired by Django Reinhardt", says the Alma Danada association, adding that the musician "immersed himself in the authentic Sinti tradition, which is rarely heard today".

Favino's discography consists of the albums 'Nuages' (2011), 'Favino' (2013), 'Rhythm Future Quartet' (2014), 'Travels' (2016) and 'Isotope' (2019).

The Pompadelic Swing Orchestra, which has the manouche guitar as its main instrument, performs next Sunday at 5:00 pm.

Formed in 2023, the orchestra debuted at the Magos da Guitarra Festival, in Lamego, and last year released its first single, 'Fleche d'Or'. At the Almada festival, it will debut its first Extended Play (EP).

Also on Sunday, but at 3:30 pm, a dance class will be held in the same room by Escola Blues & Swing Lisboa, which specializes in "vintage dances".

The Manouche Festival in Almada had a zero edition in 2021 and a first edition in May 2022.

Last year, around 600 spectators attended the festival, according to the organization.
