Arkadiusz Jakubik on the new album: what if Romeo and Juliet had survived?

Arkadiusz Jakubik on the new album: what if Romeo and Juliet had survived?

During the Cultural Friday in Studio PAP, actor, director and musician Arkadiusz Jakubik talked about his new album entitled "Romeo and Juliet Live" and about playing the role of Jacek Kuroń in the new film by Piotr Domalewski.

On his new album, the artist presents an alternative ending to William Shakespeare's classic drama.

- If Friar Laurence had not been late in the finale of that play, Romeo and Juliet would have survived and could have lived to the age of ninety with their beautiful love - said Jakubik.

- What if Romeo and Juliet had survived? And that is in this story of Jan and Krystyna Marc from Piaseczno, because I moved it to a small town near Warsaw (...). In such towns everything is more sincere and emotional. I have lived in the countryside near Piaseczno for 28 years, I know the Cultural Center in Piaseczno very well, all the streets. Most of the action of this film and musical story takes place in this cultural center - he said.

Arkadiusz Jakubik on working on a new album

As he mentioned, several people from his family were involved in the work on the album, and work on it began during the pandemic.

- We finished on the ninth song. On the title track "Romeo and Juliet Live" (...) But something kept nagging at me and it was only after four or five months that I realized I had to change the ending of this musical film. I thought: you have to add an epilogue to this story so that people can smile a little after listening to the album. And that's how the last song was created - he emphasized.

The album will also be presented live at concerts.

- I invited my friends, excellent musicians from the Dr Misio band. We already have the first concert, performance, and spectacle behind us. We will play a few more times before the holidays, but we will start a serious tour in the fall. These will be concert versions of songs from the album - announced Jakubik.

He added that two music videos were also created to promote the material.

- Very emotional, where Romeo and Juliet are 90 years old. (...) It is a classically made film story. And the next one - to the song "Ultra Survey" - is made entirely by artificial intelligence. This is a topic I have been talking about non-stop for several months with all my friends - he emphasized.
